I’ve never been a fan of IKEA. I consider it cheap (but pricey), badly made crap. Which is why I avoid IKEA. But with that shambles of a furniture delivery the other month, followed by the long wait to get my money back, I wanted a fast solution to getting the rest of my boxes unpacked. So I caved.
The first sign of this being a bad decision was the delivery not arriving with all of the order. The second was an expensive phone number to call to get it sorted, where you’re guaranteed to wait at least 15-20 min before you get to speak to someone. The third, a promised call back that never happened, instead I get a text and email informing me of a new delivery date. Of course during the week and over a week later. The fourth, the panels on the back of the wardrobe are not cut to fit properly. The fifth, the dowels in the expedit system are too big for the holes so only go in with the help of a hammer and gravity, of course meaning that when I move, this will be going in the bin as it will be destroyed while trying to be unassembled.
So.. Instead of showing you my finished craft room/office like I’d hoped. All I can show you is this…
And this …
This last one was after I’d assembled the expedit while it was standing, then lay it down to attachthe sides. That was a bad move and ended up with me covered in bruises and falling back into the wardrobe, which was in front of the door so I’d have space for the expedit. Handle through back.
And of course, the side won’t go on while lying down, I’d have had better luck with putting it on while standing and worried about screwing it in at the bottom later. Hindsight.
For niw, I’ve given up. Maybe I’ll work on the drawers and chair. Or maybe I’ll sit and knit this morning instead as I really need to improve my mood before my lunch date. And trying to fit together pieces that don’t want to go together, even if they’re smaller might not do that.
